Cable UXO Risk Management and Mitigation

RPS is currently involved with several projects concerning cable laying operations for power stations, wind farms and electrical sub stations. These include cable projects in both terrestrial and marine environments. The nature of these projects requires more refined strategies concerning UXO risks and risk mitigation.

Risk Management and Mitigation

RPS has provided comprehensive consultancy behind these projects including undertaking desk based UXO assessments and pre-works surveys. In addition, where required, on-site supervision has been undertaken and Site Management and Ground Workers have been provided with UXO Safety and Awareness Briefings. Further consultancy and Explosives Engineering Support has been provided for HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) operations where mitigation was not possible. Marine operations concerning intertidal connections and near shore operations have also required particular approaches including surveys and target investigations.

Based upon our developing experience, RPS has now developed a bespoke team to handle both maritime and terrestrial Cable and Pipe laying operations whether for electricity, oil & gas or other provisions.
