uShip, the world's first and largest transport marketplace, announced it is joining the campaign for Fair Fuel prices in the United Kingdom. The Internet company is encouraging both transporters and shipping customers alike to sign the petition.

"Fuel prices impact all uShip members, everyone from couriers and White Van Man enterprises to our delivery customers who depend on this vital network of transport companies to get their items delivered at an affordable price" said Shawn Bose, uShip's Global VP.

Fair Fuel Campaign

The Fair Fuel campaign gives everyone, whether motorist or a Transport Company, the opportunity to sign the petition and tell the government how rising fuel prices is an issue that impacts everyone in the UK in one way or another. With rising fuel prices, VAT and inflation, an additional fuel tax increase in April is sitting high on the list of the British Publics' concerns.

The Fair Fuel campaign does not support any kind of disruptive action, including blockades or other direct action. Instead it looks to mobilise public opinion and pressure through lobbying the government to listen to the concerns of business and public. The petition can be found here.

The Fair Fuel UK campaign also received the RHA's support earlier this week. Chief Executive Geoff Dunning, said, "The continuing rise in the price of fuel is a major threat to so many of our members. Many of these are the small and medium sized transport companies that form the back-bone of the UK road freight industry. Many of these companies have long and proud histories in the industry. With margins already squeezed to unsustainable levels many of these firms are threatened with going out of business."
