People across the UK rarely hear the words "We can help" coming from the mouth of the typical White Van Man. But that's not the case for Rick Garrison, owner of Newscourier, a different kind of white van man delivery company. Rick's "can do" attitude and "above-and-beyond" spirit has just earned him the title of White Van Man of the Year from the world's largest transport marketplace, uShip.com.
Rick started his courier business in 2010 and most of his deliveries are for private customers, large and bulky items that people can't send by post, and need an affordable courier delivery for. In Rick's 18 months on uShip he has achieved a top 5 out of 5 rating with over 200 customers leaving positive feedback on his service.
Over the past year, Rick has delivered everything conceivable, from emergency medication to Antique furniture via Aquariums, and during that time, not one customer has had one negative thing to say about Rick and his service.
"I'm delighted to have won this award" said Rick. "I love my work, and helping people with all their different delivery needs. Customer service is really important to me, I want my customers to know that I do the best job possible for them everytime. Ever since starting my motto has been 'we can help' and I hope to carry on in business helping as many people as possible."
When the Scout Association listed a delivery of a mattress for a 250 mile trip from Essex to the Wirral they really were looking to keep costs as low as possible to save funds, Rick stepped in an offered to deliver the item for a token 25GBP.
"I'm not surprised that Rick has won uShip's Transporter of the Year Award. He was excellent and willing to help a charitable organisation, at minimal cost to us, but of no profit for himself. He deserves this well earned accolade," said Andrew James from the Scout Association. "We can't rate Rick highly enough, and would recommend his services to anyone."
"The Transporter of the Year award is a great way to acknowledge those who go above and beyond to help their customers," Matt Chasen, uShip's CEO stated. "I first became aware of Rick last year January, where a customer contacted me to let me know what wonderful service Rick had provided. The customer had been snowed in and didn't have her medication. Desperate to find a courier in horrible weather, they posted the listing on uShip. After winning the job on uShip, Rick drove through the night to get it to her. Since then Rick has gone onto receive praise on virtually every job that he has done through our website."
"The White van man often gets a hard time," Chasen continued, "The stereotype revolves around inconsiderate and aggressive behavior, where as in our experience, the reality is completely the opposite. We have thousands of white van men registered and booking work on uShip. They are part of our customers' overall 98 per cent positive approval rating. That's a phenomenal thumbs up for white van men all over the UK."
