Glossary - Acid Rain

When atmospheric pollutants affect precipitation, acid rain forms. The precipitation has a low value on the pH scale and has harmful effects on the planet. Man made buildings such as churches can be partially dissolved and damaged by the acidity of the rain. Worse yet rain that is even lower on the pH scale may have catastrophic effects on wildlife, such as killing aquatic lifeforms in fresh water sources.
