Glossary - Biome

A biome is a geographically defined area inhabited by specific varieties of organisms optimised to live there. For example, many of the plants found in a desert (a form of biome) are able to survive due to their ability to retain water, as are camels. The organisms that dwell within a biome are referred to as a biotic community.
