Definition of Erosion

Glossary - Erosion

Erosion is the general term for the progressive wearing away of the materials on a surface - typically rocks and soils – due to the effects of wind, of water or of a glacier. In many instances, the eroded material is carried from one location to another, like downstream, in the case of a river.
