Ledo’s Ultra-Efficient LED Light Bulbs
Posted by Enviro News Technology Reporter on 17/11/2011 - 13:30:00
German firm Ledo LED Technologie GmbH has unveiled a range of ultra-efficient LED light bulbs that consume only 11 watts of energy and can keep on working for eight decades.
Produced in different variants, the light bulbs all incorporate an array of 11 LEDs to supply 330 degrees of panoramic illumination and they form part of the firm's ‘Bulled' range.
This includes a design called the ‘Classic', which has fin-shaped aluminium components design to scatter heat. There's also the ‘Modular', which takes a similar arrangement but places the LEDs on cones, which create air ducts to aid with heat dissipation. Finally, there's the ‘Star', incorporating lightweight synthetic materials.
Ultra-Efficient LED Light Bulbs
Ledo's family of ultra-efficient LED light bulbs designs are depicted in the image which accompanies this News Item with - from left to right - the Modular, the Star and the Classic all shown. All three energy-efficient LED light bulbs have an 80,000 hour lifetime, equating to around 80 years of typical domestic use.
According to Ledo, the Bulled Classic, Modular and Star all supply ‘outstanding colour rendering' and ‘instant 100% luminosity'. Constructed from highly durable materials, they contain no mercury and they're all dimmable.
On the dimensional side, they're all the same size - 98 millimetres by 55 millimetres - and they all come with a five year warranty.
Ledo LED Light Bulbs
Overall, the Ledo LED light bulbs are directly comparable to incandescent light bulbs in terms of their shape, their size and the level of illumination they give off. Their rate of energy consumption, though, is 15 per cent reduced and they offer an exceptionally long lifespan.
The light they emit take the form of a soft glow, as opposed to the harsher, blue tones associated with other LEDs.
"We have the same brightness compared to a 60 watt bulb", product designer Juergen Honold states, in a video interview with architectural and design firm Architonic posted on the Ledo website. He adds: "We have nearly the same light quality as an incandescent light bulb but with low energy use."
