Intersurgical EcoRange

Intersurgical announces the launch of more products in its Eco range of low environmental impact products.

Geoff Wond, Product Manager, explains ‘As part of a continual improvement process, Intersurgical aims to reduce the environmental impact of its products and processes. This has resulted in a long search for alternative materials to PVC to address these concerns. We are delighted to now add more products to the range providing our customers with an extended choice of low environmental impact products’.

The new Intersurgical Eco Oxygen Mask, has a 73% lower impact on the environment over its complete life cycle compared to PVC alternatives.

The product range now includes Eco Oxygen mask, Eco Aerosol mask, Eco High Concentration Oxygen Mask, Cirrus2 Adult Eco Mask Kit, Eco Venturi mask kits and FiltaMask.

Intersurgical EcoAnaesthesia Facemask

The EcoAnaesthesia mask is a single use anatomical face mask with a soft, comfortable airtight seal.

The EcoAnaesthesia mask is made from two different types of material. The shell has a crystal clear semi-rigid form providing excellent visibility of the patient.

The seal is made from a thermoplastic elastomer providing a unique level of flexibility and comfort. It is this feature which allows the EcoAanesthesia mask to fit a wide variety of patient faces. The range therefore only requires four sizes rather than the traditional seven, reducing your stock requirements.

The Intersurgical colour coding system has been developed to make our airway products easier to use. The colour on the seal of the EcoAnaesthesia facemask gives a clear indication of the size, enabling quicker product selection.

The unique design of the soft seal provides a comfortable yet airtight fit especially over the nose, without the need for excessive pressure.

EcoAnaesthesia masks are entirely free of PVC, which means they have a lower environmental impact when incinerated.

There is a growing concern in the world market about the possibility of major viral infections that may be transmitted via the respiratory tract.

Therefore there is a need to provide a protective mask for patients undergoing oxygen therapy to prevent viral contamination from the patient into the clinical environment and to reduce the risk of cross infection. Conventional oxygen masks can generate a plume of particles from their exhalation ports, which can travel a considerable distance.
